Nicki Minaj is ravishing in red as she talks being single for the first time in twenty years

 She is one of the most scintillating stars in music.

And for the first time in two decades, Nicki Minaj is single and ready to mingle.

The 35-year-old rapper opened up about not being in a relationship for the first time since she was 15 as she is featured on the cover of Elle magazine’s July issue.

She said: ‘As soon as I realized that I could actually live and breathe, and eat and sleep, and walk and talk, without having a boyfriend, something clicked in me….Becoming single was one of the things that made me feel strong and powerful.

Nicki has been single since early 2017 as her last public relationship was with fellow rapper Meek Mill.

She explained: ‘The fact that I am a young woman who doesn’t need a man for money. I don’t need a man for a job.

‘I’ve never had to f*** for beats. I’ve never had to f*** for a record deal. I don’t have those pressures. I get up when I want, shop when I want.’

It wasn’t always this way for the talented star as she said:  ‘I remember feeling like I could do anything at one time in my life and somewhere along the line, I just started second guessing myself for whatever reason.’

In the pages of the issue, Nicki showed off her famous figure in a clinging red long-sleeved gown as she posed while standing on a coffee table.

She also had on a very long raven-colored wig which touched the wood on the table as she accentuated her natural looks with a swipe of ruby red lip.

Nicki was photographed by legendary fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, 84, who even posed with the star in a few snaps.

She gushed about working with the creative director of the fashion houses of Chanel, Fendi, and his own label as she said: ‘I couldn’t think straight anymore. I was like, Oh my God, I couldn’t…it felt like a dream.’

Former flame: Nicki’s last relationship was with rapper Meek Mill (pictured together in November 2016) as she discussed his legal battle

Her ex boyfriend Meek Mill, 31, was famously released from prison back on April 24 after years of a legal battles.

Back in 2016, Nicki and Meek met with Judge Genece Brinkley who ultimately sent him to prison in November 2017.

She said: ‘I know that when I went there pleading for his freedom, I know that she [Judge Brin­kley] spoke to me and was very sweet and maternal, and we both cried in her chambers, and she gave him another chance. So I don’t know what’s going on.’

Nicki’s fourth studio album Queen will be released on August 8. Her July cover issue for Elle will hit newsstands on June 26.
